Scott Phillips

Scott resides in New York and serves as a Managing Director with Fifth Third’s Financial Sponsors Group, a part of Fifth Third Securities, Inc. (“FTS”). Scott brings a wealth of capital markets experience to his sponsor relationships, having covered financial sponsors in New York, London and Asia for over two decades. He has broad expertise in all product areas including M&A and advisory, loans and bonds, securitization, structured finance, ABL, subscription lines, derivatives and hedging of both equity and debt. He has worked in multiple corporate finance and commercial banking environments over the course of his career. Scott joined Fifth Third in 2022 as a Managing Director on the financial sponsor coverage platform, where he focuses on large cap and midcap financial sponsors, including both the equity investing and credit arms of these firms. Previously, Scott spent over 25 years in Financial Sponsor Coverage at Société Générale, having founded this group for SG in London in 2001. Prior to joining SG, he spent one year in leveraged finance at Nomura Securities in NY. He worked in corporate finance at CS First Boston from 1986-1995, in the US, Latin America, Europe and Asia. He graduated from business school in 1986, prior to which he worked in Chemical Bank in NY as part of the China Desk, during which time he assisted in the opening of their China rep office in Beijing. Scott received a Bachelor of Arts in East Asian Studies from Wesleyan University and a Master of Business Administration from the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration. Scott currently holds the Series 7, 24 and 63 licenses from FINRA.
