Matthew Holbrook

Matt serves as a Managing Director with Fifth Third’s Financial Sponsors Group, a part of Fifth Third Securities, Inc. (“FTS”). Advising private equity firms on new investment opportunities and their existing holdings, he brings a wealth of capital markets experience to his covered sponsors. Matt joined Fifth Third in 2017 as a Managing Director on the Debt Capital Markets platform, where he focused on leveraged finance origination for the financial sponsor community and consumer & retail clients, and briefly ran the Retail, Food & Agribusiness corporate banking team before moving to his current role. Previously, Matt spent nearly three years on the Syndicated & Leveraged Finance team at SunTrust Robinson Humphrey, approximately ten years on the Global Leveraged Finance team at Bank of America Merrill Lynch and a year with Wachovia’s Capital Finance team. While in business school, he worked closely with a Nashville-based investment management rollup firm to evaluate potential acquisition candidates and advised on portfolio company operations. Matt began his professional career with a Virginia-based investment management firm where he focused on equity research, portfolio management and compliance. Matt received a Bachelor of Science of Business Administration and Accounting from Washington and Lee University and a Master of Business Administration from the Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University. He currently holds the Series 7, 24 and 63 licenses from FINRA.
